DO's AND DONT's : DIRNDL

 Tomorrow is the big day! Wiesn 2011 ist starting and so I want to give you some do's and dont's before the big event!
Dirndl - Bavarian costumes became really popular and you'll find a lot of more or less traditional versions.

Morgen gehts los! Die Wiesn 2011 beginnt und davor gibt es hier noch einen kleinen Ratgeber vor dem grossen Event.
Tracht und Dirndl werden mit jedem Jahr immer beliebter und daher gibt es natürlich auch mehr oder weniger traditionelle Versionen.

 For the length only two length were possible : long (ankle-length) and midi (longer than knee-length). Today there are a lot more lengths possible, but to be honest, the traditional lengths are the most beautiful ones. Please, never buy a Mini Dirndl, it should at least be knee-length or a little above.

Zwei Längen ware langezeit nur möglich. Knöchellang und Wadenlang. Heutzutage gibt es natürlich viel mehr Längen, die traditionellen sind aber doch am schönsten. Allerdings verzichtet bitte auf die Mini-Dirndl, die Dirndl sollten doch zumindest bis kurz vors Knie gehen.

 The dirndls material should be a traditional embellished Cotton or Linen. For the special Couture Dirndl silk brocat is ok as well.
The appron can be fancy, colorful but shouldnt be look like a christmas tree and of course match with the Dirndl in styling and length.

Die schönsten Dirndl Stoffe sind die verzierten Baumwoll-, Leinenstoffe. Für die sogenannten Couture Dirndls sind Seidenbrokat Stoffe natürlich auch in Ordnung. Die Schürze kann ruhig farbenfroh und ausgefallen sein, sollte aber doch zum Dirndl im Styling und der Länge passen.

 The blouse should be ALWAYS white Cotton, embellished with some lace or borders, but simple.
Sheer blouses in polyester are a no go, shoulderfree blouses look pretty cheap and please never ever go without the blouse!

Die Bluse sollte IMMER aus weisser Baumwolle bestehen. Einfach verziert mit Spitze oder Bordüren. Transparente Blusen aus Polyester gehen gar nicht, genausowenig wie schulterfreie Modelle und bitte nie, nie ohne Bluse!

 

 

Last but not least: The appron's bow at the left side means single and at the right side taken, so choose wisely! ;-)

Als Letztes: Die Schleife der Schürze hat eine Beudeutung: Gebunden auf der rechten Seite heisst vergeben, auf der linken Seite single, also trefft diese Entscheidung bedacht! ;-)
