Tracht & Country Classics Salzburg

Yesterday I visited the Tracht & Country Classics fair in Salzburg. I was born and raised in Munich, spending a LOT of time in Austria and so I really love "traditional costumes". Of course not for every day but dressing up in a nice "dirndl" is as much fun as with normal dresses and I have to admit they fit me very well. Here are some impressions of the fair and the show for Spring Summer 2010.Fashion Show:
Beginning with the gorgeous Dirndl Collection of Sportalm Kitzbühel.

The beautiful Dirndl from newcomer Gottseidank Design were also shown and an absolute highlight in the show. For more information visit www.gottseidank-design.de
Also shown Norway brand Oleana with super cute Cardigans and modern Tutu skirts...

The final was shown with a lot of energy from one of my favorite "traditional brands" Louis Trenker. I love the way modern and traditional elements are combined with energy and attitude, lifestyle and tradition. You can wear a lot of the outfits for daily use....

These are 2 drafts from my final work for fashion school 2 years ago - not the final illustrations, but i think you can imagine how they could look like then...

I hope you like it...

Headbands...

I wanted to share some pictures of my Headband Collection for Fall/Winter 2009/2010.

The samples were held all in black, some of them are available also in rose, champagne and grey... I worked on some for Summer 2010 as well but i think the time for headbands is almost over again. I like to wear them Hippie Style in front or even elegant in the hair with chignons... I can just wear the small headbands in front because I have a small face and wear the bigger ones for a night out... What is your opinion, do you like headbands or think they are totally overrated.

Thin headband with laceflower, velvet band with sequined flower, satinband with stones, braided band with stones, wide corrugated band with flower, sequined 80s headband

MUSEUM BRANDHORST

I finally made it to the "Museum Brandhorst" in Munich on Sunday. I just can say it is totally worth a visit. On Sundays the entrance is 1,-€ only! I really liked the paintings from Cy Twombly, especially the rose paintings. But there is a lot of art of Warhol, Baselitz, Beuys as well. Even some art from Lachapelle and Hirst!

My Sister's Keeper

I already told you I love books. I saw the trailer to My Sister's Keeper for the first time yesterday and have to admit I had no clue that this movie was based on the novel from Jodi Picoult (til I saw the trailer). I absolutely loved the book, I read it couple months ago and it was so deeply moving. Have you already seen the movie? How is it? I'm looking forward to the German start next week. For all of you who haven't seen or read, it is the story about 13-year old Anna who is genetically engineerd a perfect match for her cancer-ridden older sister. Anna is now being considered as a kidney donor in a last-ditch attempt to save her sister. But then Anna has hired a lawyer to represent her in a medical emancipation suit to allow her to have control over her own body. Why she is doing this i hidden a long time but it is the story about a deep family band. The story in the book ends with a suprising change, deep sorrow and a happy end.

I did it

I ordered at H&M online shop for the first time and I hope the trouser will arrive safely and soon. The problem is I'm in my holidays that week the trouser should be delivered (already told you that) but i couldn't resist. After i called 2 shops in Munich and the online shop hotline and no one could help me with the simple question when the trouser will be in store, I gave my luck a try. I also thought about different friends and family but either they are coming with me or I need to explain why I bought another trouser again. So I decieded, I just will hope for an early or late delivery and will be excited when I come back.

Finally

My Leather Skirt is finally finished. The idea results from an old trouser and a marc jacobs model, which I modified to my new shorter version. I hope you like it! I'm looking forward to fall - to wear it with tights and heels. I will post then the outfit.

Leather Skirt

I thought I could show you my selfmade leather skirt today, but after finishing the lovely new piece I noticed that it was a bit to big. So I had to rip out the zipper again and hopefully can show you some pictures of the finished skirt tomorrow. Directly after i will start my leather legging, I found another old trouser from my mum. Be patient and wish me luck!

H&M Fall

I just fell in love with another hot black trouser from H&M! From the new back in black campaign. A black trouser with patent details on the side, I already did the trouser in my basket and then I saw that the shipment will be mid of september and there I will be in my holidays. Do you know when the pieces from the ad are coming in store I will probably try to reach a store tomorrow and the trouser will be mine. I also like the sequined jacket but the price is for H&M very high and I'm still sad about the sequined vest... I think you can wear a vest more often than the jacket.

ESCADA

The german brand Escada will announce their insolvency this week. I'm curious how the brand will continue. I did an internship a few years ago at the design team.

I'll keep you updated about news and information...

2 PICTURES GAME

What a nice idea from Oh, Mishka!!!

Grab your camera.

Take pictures of 2 things in the room you're in right now.

Put them on your blog and say why you chose those 2 items to photograph.

Then comment here with the link to your blog so we can all see each others' photos!

Here are mine:

Because I am sitting in the office I couldn't grab any personal stuff, but as I do love my work, I think those pictures reflect me as well.

My Candy box filled with my pencils, copics and crayons. Those pens are biscuit for me :-)

The magazines I haven't read yet. The pack become bigger everyday. I really need to look at them today...

Thank you Michelle for this game...

So much nice stuff in it, I need to look at it several times to find the best. I really liked the Accessories Special, so pretty pictures in it.

The Miu Miu ad hit my eye, such a hot bag, definetely way up between all the quilted bags! The bag made it to my wishlist for Fall. What do you think?

BY MALENE BIRGER

Friday at 8 pm was the By Malene Birger Runway Show at Copenhagen Fashion Week, one of my favourite designers. The Outfits for Summer 2010 were mainly in white, sand, some blue and grey and based on a little safari meets 80s look. It looked very flittering, light summer and sexy. the accessories range vary from silk to decorated scarves and long necklaces evocative to Roberta Freymann and Fiona Paxton. The Salon Couture looks depart a bit from the pret-a-porter collection and were mainly in black and white with big shoulders and remembered me to much on 80s Escada Collections. Seen the entire show i would say it is a really nice collection.
You can look at the pictures at www.copenhagenfashionweek.com .
